Congrats again Ian on a awesome performance last weekend.
36:54 (14# WB)
Awesome group this morning and cool to do this WOD on my 6 month anniversary. Way to keep moving Byron, Sharon and my lovely wife Heather.
G: Thank you for keeping me moving on the burpees. Rest at the bottom....good one.LOL

Congrats Ian and to all other competitors!!! I am having a hard time getting in the shower to wash off the Filthy Effin Fifty!!! Thanks for all the encouragement this morning Pacemakers. Way to work Ray, Sharon, Hernan, Heather, Byron, Juan, Jim, JB, and me...... I hope I did not forget any one.

I really liked the Filthy Effin 50...Was about 10 reps behind Hernan after the jumping pullups and was trying to chase him down the entire WOD. He got me by one freakin second. Amazing to watch your progress over the last 6 months. To go from barely able to do a pushup to top 10 at your first CF challenge is awesome.
Congrats Ian, you killed it last weekend!
Can't wait to watch Dream Team 2010 (Byron/Sharon/Face) in the Spring challenge.
G - rest at the bottom?? that didn't work out so well for me
Stacy - thanks for helping Nick with his butterfly kips last night, he'll get them soon.

Heather way to keep moving, I was aiming to catch you, never did though

Face, you forgot to write down your new PR today - two days at the box in a row - I heard you are trying to break that tomorrow!!!
Posted by: Sharon | October 15, 2009 at 09:34 AM
CONGRATS, Ian!! :) I am still so excited for you!

What a way to commemorate my 6 months at ACF! Thank you to all the pacemakers for keeping me going. I was not sure I was gonna make it when I got to the burpees.

Ian what can I say.... of course you won ;)
36:50 14#WB, 150singles
Wow that was the definition of crossfit.
I don't think you need any clinics Jim just make people do that WOD. Just say, "You in or you out?".
I can't wait to see where I am next year on this.
Kristina and Fam you got me by some seconds, I'll catch you both someday. Good Job 8:30!!

GPP or just stupid?
I'm planning on doing a sprint tri (500 meter swim, 15 mile bike, 3 mile run) next weekend (Oct 25th) in Katy without any triathlon specific training. Wanted to test the General Physical Preparedness theory behind CrossFit training.
I've never swam 500 meters in a row, I haven't been on a bike in over a year, and I haven't run more than 1.5 miles straight since 2008.
For those of you that have done a tri before, any thoughts? Anyone interested in joining me? My only goals are to have fun, finish, and not die in the process. Having a decent time is a distant 4th goal.

Congrats Ian..You are one heck of a machine!!!
Awesome job to all the 830 group..
Wow, this is one hell of a filthy work-out. Let see, I got lightheaded and pukie the clown almost came to visit but I'm glad I got thru it.. Thanks Dennis for pushing me!!!
35:10(24"box,35#kb,singles)..
Steph, you are my idol..just use me as your target..

Yes, I canceled today. No, it's not because of the filthy 50, I actually wanted to do it to compare with the last time, I'm just sick.
Ray,
I did a sprint a while back, and all I can say is I wish I had a bit of open water swimming practice before hand. The swim is the most technically demanding part, and without a little technique development, it can get challenging. I ended up doing the side crawl for the whole distance.
Good luck, if October wasn't such a hectic month for me I'd do it with you.
Posted by: Admiral Skywalker (Nate) | October 15, 2009 at 11:07 AM
Ray,
Your GPP will allow you to reach your first three goals. The fourth requires some sport specific training.
Have fun and let me know if you decide to do it...i will take the pictures and bring the beer!
29.and change Rx- Yes Hernan minus...I know lame (Had to swing the 44# to make up for the 14#MB. 20# does too much damage to the shoulder.)
Posted by: BB2 | October 15, 2009 at 11:29 AM
24:15(RX) I love this wod, took 7 minutes off my last time...It helped to have Stacy and Ian right there battling with me.
I've also decided never to try and keep up with Stacy on a Box Jump/Jumping pull-up combo, you have to stay steady and hope you can catch him at the end. The wall ball and burpees at the end are no fun at all.
Great work by all at 8:30
Posted by: Billdozer | October 15, 2009 at 11:30 AM
Clearly Arnold... you are in!
Posted by: BB2 | October 15, 2009 at 12:02 PM
Ray, the only advice I can offer is that just like the theorem that you're stronger with your shirt off, you swim faster without a swimsuit. Give it a try & let m know how it goes.
Posted by: Silverback | October 15, 2009 at 12:05 PM
I couldn't/can't get to the box today, but G said I can do this WOD tomorrow at noon.
Posted by: Silverback | October 15, 2009 at 12:07 PM
Thanks for the advice Nate. Actually because of that I decided to sign up for the "first timer" heat, that swim is only 200m. I've never swim in open water before but I can't imagine it will be very pleasant. Looking forward to it.
Jim - I'll drink a beer with you after the race.
Silverback - thanks for the tip, but I'll have to pass this time. Maybe I'll bring a blizzard and eat it before I jump in the water. Btw - must be nice to be able to do whatever WOD whenever you want :)
Posted by: ray | October 15, 2009 at 01:03 PM
Yes Sharon it will be a record that is broken tomorrow!!! 3 days in a row and watch out I just bought new shoes to work out in- hopefully they will make me as good as Ray at crossfit!!! The Dream Team is still alive....
Posted by: Happy Face | October 15, 2009 at 01:07 PM
The pics are awesome! Great job, Ian!!! Wish I could have been there. Today's WOD was tough but good. Scaled 30. Goal is to do 50 some day!

congrats Ian, you rocked it out - looks like you will be moving into the standard division for the spring challenge

playboy? nice.
Posted by: BB2 | October 15, 2009 at 02:03 PM
Jim, way to clarify on the RX-, you wouldn't want the RX police aka Hernan Hernandez on your ass.
Posted by: Billdozer | October 15, 2009 at 02:09 PM
Ian, you do so well everytime you compete. Congrats on getting 1st place!
Posted by: Jolecelle | October 15, 2009 at 02:17 PM
BB2 Bryan pulled a happy face last night and was showing us his swinging undies! That had playboy written on the waist band.
Posted by: Gracie (G2) | October 15, 2009 at 02:52 PM
Well--this sucked. Very disappointed with my last place time--50:10. Had I been better at puking, I feel certain I could have made the 45 mins...and fully intend to do so the next time.
Thanks G for pushing me through that 'I'm going to have to quit' period around wall ball time...and again at burpee time.
Posted by: Red 'Barkley' Byron | October 15, 2009 at 02:57 PM
Bryon - thanks for taking one for a fellow dream team member - if not for the visit from pukie then I would have surely had the worst time of the day :)

Should I be scared to look at this??
Posted by: Z | October 15, 2009 at 03:28 PM
nah, since i was standing next to you while you were doing the SDHP, thought you might want a little something to remind you of how much fun they were
Posted by: ray | October 15, 2009 at 03:31 PM
Haha...Thanks, Ray! I love how in pain and intense I look and how nice and calm the girl next to me is...haha. I literally remember wanting to beat the blank out of that KB. I am also pretty sure everyone at that moment knew exactly how I felt about it. :P
Posted by: Z | October 15, 2009 at 03:36 PM
Z - How much did you love/hate that judge??
Posted by: Silverback | October 15, 2009 at 03:47 PM
Congrats Ian!
Gracie- good thing we're all friends! Also, no need to be looking at my waistband- I don't wear any just to save myself the possible embarrassment...
Filthy Fifty is going to suck... scale A is looking pretty good right about now.
Posted by: mikey | October 15, 2009 at 03:59 PM
Mikey.....no more whining or you do extra burpees tonight.
Posted by: G | October 15, 2009 at 04:12 PM
BG "Playboy"
Yes, I am a filthy dirty bastard, but trust me, you'd need a Hazmat team in there if I attempted the 50 today, and no one wants that.
So... lata playa
Posted by: Admiral Skywalker (Nate) | October 15, 2009 at 04:19 PM
Who's whining? Can I trade burpees for the wall balls?!? :-)
I was psyched at noon but there was no noon class. I was going to up the stakes to 60 reps then but my energy level has since tapered off. I have a parent-teacher conf at 5pm and will drag my carcass into the box shortly thereafter...

32:30
(14# wall ball for the first 10 then used the 10# for the last 40, 150 jumpropes)
I loved this WOD...would of loved it more without the jumping pullups and knees to elbows...I have such a weak core! Arnold, I thought of you on the wall balls...I tried the 14 like you said but I wasn't hitting the line. I had to go to 10, I was frustrated about that. Great job everyone...Anthony, way to finish man!!
Ray I might join you next week...send me the info!
Ian, it was awesome to watch you man...You're amazing!!!!
Posted by: Katie | October 15, 2009 at 04:24 PM
And G my dear, thanks for keeping me going as always!!!
Posted by: Katie | October 15, 2009 at 04:26 PM
Sorry Ray...I just noticed you already posted the link for the Tri! Maybe I should do a better job reading! ;)
Posted by: Katie | October 15, 2009 at 04:36 PM
i could be talked into doing the tri.
I tri. I do.
Posted by: todd | October 15, 2009 at 04:52 PM
Haha...Ooh, Silverback...I don't think I can express in words my feelings toward my judge at that particular moment in time...and even if I could it's probably best if I didn't...at least on this thing. :P
Ray- That's the tri I did!! :) That's so awesome you're just gonna go for it! Hmmm...So, now you've got me thinking I might just have to?
Posted by: Z | October 15, 2009 at 05:50 PM
Thanks everybody could not have done it without everybody in the box pushing me.
Filthy Fifty 26:40(RX)my nemesis the double unders slowed me down considerably at the end
Posted by: ian | October 15, 2009 at 06:12 PM
I'm in with ya Ray.
I did a couple of these several years ago. It is quite an experience trying to run after riding. i was a little pickier on the ones i did and only did pool swims. open water will be interesting.
My advice, don't kill yourself on the swim, just get through it. ride like hell, and run like hell... once you figure out how to run again after getting off the bike. you'll understand when you do it.
remember to pedal in circles, not squares.
any input Lopez?

41:17 (30 reps @KTE, 14# wb, 150 singles).
I started with 50 reps up until the KTE but Grace knew I would not make the 50 minute cutoff so she moved me to the A scale. I did the A scale last time with a 45 minute time. At least I improved a little.

Thank you Playboy for your help. After doing less than half that crapola, I went out of order! All you Vamps rock and it feels so good to have made it back 3 days this week. All you Ladies are great and its so good to see everyone individually improve. All of you Team Mates are inspirations. Just another home for me to be ME and release!!!!!! Thanks Teach and Grace for pushing and pushing me harder!!! Now to try and exercise these arms to wash this Filthy Fifty Evidence off!!!

Good work Vamps!

42 something (14# WB, Singles) Knees to elbows and burpees wore me down the most today. As G says, I was 'gaming it' trying to not burn myself out at the beginning by over pacing. I was shooting for under 40 but the burpees and knees to elbows took too long. G and the rest of you are great motivators!
